Dr. Colby Wollenman
Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon · Texas Orthopaedic Associates
Colby Wollenman, M.D. is a North Dallas-based orthopaedic surgeon at Texas Orthopaedic Associates who specializes in complex and revision knee surgery, shoulder instability and reconstruction, hip arthroscopic labral surgery, and fractures of the upper and lower extremity. Dr. Wollenman is committed to bringing his patients the latest advances in arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques while fostering a genuine commitment to understanding each patient's story and getting them back to the life they want to live. Whether treating a weekend competitor or a professional athlete, he takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to every case, combining surgical precision with clear communication and real partnership in the decision-making process.
Dr. Wollenman is a native of Sheridan, Wyoming, where his father's work as an equine veterinarian first sparked his fascination with how the body moves and heals. A multisport athlete throughout high school, he went on to attend Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies, where he walked on to the basketball team and played for five years, contributing to several nationally ranked teams and culminating in a Final Four appearance in 2015. That competitive drive has stayed with him throughout his medical career, translating into a desire to bring the best possible care to his patients.
Dr. Wollenman next earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and remained in Nashville to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt. Widely recognized as one of the nation's most rigorous surgical training programs, it was there that he built an exceptional foundation of operative skill while providing athletic coverage from the high school level up through the professional level.
He then completed his fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado — widely regarded as the premier training ground in the world for shoulder, hip, and knee surgery. There, working alongside internationally recognized experts, he cared for athletes ranging from high schoolers to Olympians while helping drive research that continues to shape the field.
Dr. Wollenman is proud to be part of Texas Orthopaedic Associates (TOA), a division of OrthoLoneStar, the largest independent orthopaedic practice in Texas. With clinics across Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, Keller and Weatherford, along with TOA physical therapy and a sports injury clinic, TOA gives his patients a full team of orthopaedic specialists and convenient care close to home.
Today, Dr. Wollenman is committed to offering patients the most advanced, evidence-based options available using clear communication and goal-setting. His mission is to get you back to the lifestyle and activities that matter most to you.
Dr. Wollenman is currently accepting new patients in Dallas and Plano regions.
